Schools & Groups

Introducing a mental health resilience course into your school offers a multitude of benefits for children. Firstly, it equips them with crucial coping mechanisms to navigate life’s challenges. In today’s fast-paced and often stressful world, children encounter various stressors, from academic and peer pressure to social conflicts. Resilience training empowers them with the skills to manage stress, regulate emotions, and bounce back from setbacks. By fostering resilience early on, children develop a strong foundation for mental well-being, enabling them to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Designed for all children

We firmly believe that by providing all children with resilience training during formative years, schools are investing in their future wellbeing and success.  These skills not only benefit children academically, but also prepare them to navigate the complexities of adulthood.

We aim to foster a generation of resilient and empowered young people capable of overcoming life’s challenges.

For children on the cusp of transitioning to high school, mental health resilience training becomes especially crucial. This transitional period often brings about heightened stress and anxiety as children navigate the uncertainties of adolescence and the increased academic demands of secondary education. Resilience training equips them with the tools to manage these challenges effectively, ensuring a smoother transition into high school.

Safer spaces for mental health

Mental health resilience training promotes a supportive and inclusive school environment.  By undertaking a mental health coaching programme the school sends a clear message that mental health is a priority and that seeking help is encouraged.  Destigmatisation of mental health issues can also reduce barriers to seeking support and fosters a culture of openness and acceptance.  Our programmes create safer spaces for children to express their feelings, ultimately fostering a sense of individual wellbeing, as well as a connectedness with the school community.

Programme in practice

The programme is aimed at children from 9 through to 18 years old, with 2 different, age-appropriate curriculums available. Our courses are based on the ‘iheart Resilience Programme’, highly interactive using hands-on activities, thought-provoking videos, memorable analogies and group discussions. The course works best delivered face-to-face, in a classroom setting, over 10 sixty minute sessions by a trained iheart facilitator supported by members of the staff team to help embed the learning. The course teaches each participant that they have everything that they need inside. They will discover their wellbeing is built-in and how to thrive even when it feels like their wellbeing is being threatened.

Shorter, bespoke courses are available. Each young person will receive an iheart journal to refer back to whenever they need to. Prices are dependent on the number of children participating. Some funding is available if it meets the criteria.

At Foundation we use the ‘iheart Resilience Programme’ for schools and groups, which has been taught to over 30,000 children in 22 countries across the world.

Our courses follow a structured framework, but can be delivered in a number of different, bespoke formats to make them easy to weave into timetables and accommodate activity times. Topics include dealing with difficult emotions, bullying, labels, social media and navigating relationships.

The sessions were delivered passionately, with reference to personal examples which really helped the class see their relevance throughout different stages of life. It was clear that it was an approach that the leaders were passionate about with help the children to be invested.

Many other external programmes that promote similar offers are run by providers simply doing a job, rather than being truly invested in what they are teaching.

iheart does not attempt to be a miracle cure for anxiety, daily worries etc but explains the mind in terms of realistic, lifelong expectations – it’s not a quick fix. It uses language appropriate to the age of the children, but tackles more mature themes in readiness for High School.
